Isambard Kingdom Brunel

1806--1859
 

Isambard Kingdom Brunel helped to deign the Thames tunnel.  (1825--1843)

Brunel designed the Great Western Rail Way and linked it to a steam ship going to New York.  (1833--1841)
 
He was born in Portsmouth on the 9th of April 1806.

He designed the docks at Bristol,Cardiff and Milford Haven.

Kingdom was his Mothers maiden name.

He designed and built three ships,

P.S Great Western (completed in 1838)
S.S Great Britain (completed in 1845)
P.S.S Great Eastern (completed in 1858)

 


 

Brunel died on the 15th September 1859 while watching the P.S.S Eastern undergoing sea trials.

Brunel designed and built the Clifton suspension   bridge. It was finished after he died.
