THE THREE BEARS OF BRENT KNOLL
|
Felix, Felicity and Freddie live in our
school. They help to bring our Geography Curriculum alive.
Felix first joined us in the summer of 2000. He started life in Austria -
hence the lederhausen. Felix has travelled to many countries and now holds
his own passport. He has many souvenirs of his trips and is beginning to
look well cuddled.
Felicity joined Felix about a year later. The great demand for Felix left
children disappointed. A very kind mum purchased Felicity locally in an
effort to ensure that there was a better opportunity to take a bear on
holiday if you so wished.
At Brent Knoll many of our dads travel to far off countries - many were
reluctant to take a teddy bear with them! We purchased Freddie - a very
small bear, so that hopefully dads will feel able to offer him a trip
neatly concealed in a pocket or case.
If you feel you can offer a trip to anyone of our bears please speak with
our school secretary in the school office, she keeps their appointment
diary.
When on holiday please take a photo of the bear, if possible with the
child who is in charge of it and showing scenery typical of the venue you
visit. When back at school please provide us with a copy of the photo.
This will be added to our hall display. The display links photographs to a
World Map indicating the places visited by the bears. If possible
encourage your child to write one or two sentences about the place that
you visited. This will be put onto the web site.
All of this is great fun for the children and an excellent way for them to
learn about the world in which they live. When not on their travels the
bears can be found on the hall display opposite the piano. It is always
best to book well in advance to save disappointment - both Felix and
Felicity are already booked for trips at half term. |
